Description
Our natural juniper needle hydrolate for foods comes from the plant with the botanical name Juniperus communis. The liquid bears the name Juniper Needle natural hydrolate for food. The species belongs to the family Cupressaceae. The needles are used for extraction; their form remains unchanged throughout the entire life cycle, and their arrangement follows dense whorls along the thin twigs. The trees grow in Bulgaria under a natural cultivation regime without synthetic agents. Steam distillation keeps the aromatic profile pure, because no solvents take part in the extraction and the volatile fraction comes solely from the needle raw material of the plant. The aqueous phase collects the oxygenated volatile compounds, and it is precisely these that build the aromatic character of the entire liquid. The aroma remains of medium intensity. The fresh base of the scent carries a piney and resinous side in the overall tone of the profile. Monoterpene hydrocarbons predominate in the needle oil, with pinene and sabinene leading among them and determining the direction of the entire profile. The product remains a clear liquid whose color ranges between colorless and pale yellow. On the upper side of the needle, a stomatal band with a grayish waxy bloom is visible. The choice of needles as raw material explains the faint color, since mainly colorless compounds pass into the water, while the pigments remain in the leaf tissue. The natural composition does not accept preservative or coloring substances. In addition, the natural method of cultivation and the raw material limited to the needles determine a composition made up solely of plant volatile substances and water. The medium strength of the scent, the clear liquid form and the faint color outline the character of juniper needle hydrolate.
